ERP & I-CBT

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP):

ERP is a therapy that encourages you to face your fears and let obsessive thoughts occur without 'putting them right' or 'neutralising' them with compulsions

Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT):

I-CBT aims to correct distorted inferential thinking patterns, improve reality-based reasoning, and address obsessive doubt by targeting the underlying dysfunctional reasoning, while minimizing the use of ERP components.

ERP and I-CBT are both effective tools for managing and minimizing folks’ Obsessive Compulsive Disorder symptoms or various symptoms related to intrusive thoughts, anxiety, and self-doubt. During the assessment phase, I am often discussing treatment plans and options. I enjoy providing I-CBT services for folks who have difficulty with recognizing and understanding the core features of their symptoms. When folks have an understanding of their symptoms and still continue to have compulsive symptoms, I shift to ERP.
